LOS DELFINES   I  CD "BOSSA, SMOOTH & JAZZ"

Los Delfines was an iconic Uruguayan rock band that defined an era in the 1970s with their beat style and English lyrics. In 2015, the son of the band’s leader initiated a tribute album that reinterprets their original songs with jazz and bossa nova influences, aiming to revive the classics with a relaxed and contemporary twist that resonates with new generations. Thus, "Bossa, Smooth and Jazz" was born—a unique album presented in 2017 at Uruguay's most prestigious and historic venue, Teatro Sodre.
For the storytelling of the CD booklet, we imagined the story of a band fan in the 1970s, preparing to attend a concert in Hollywood. The protagonist of this visual narrative is also the album's singer, creating an organic connection between nostalgia and the present.
The album's identity seeks to encapsulate the duality of classic and modern through a carefully chosen typographic mix that balances elegance, refinement, and a distinctive personal touch. The seal draws inspiration from medieval heraldry and baroque ornamentation, subtly integrating a double figure of dolphins that elegantly underscores the band’s essence. The copper and matte gold finishes lend an air of timelessness and distinction. The cover centers around the model's image—a fan and the vocalist—enjoying the latest album from Los Delfines, celebrating the tribute and the band’s musical legacy. The composition strikes a delicate balance between the classic and the modern, evoking the unbreakable connection between origin and present. The interior design maintains conceptual consistency with the cover, showing a photographic sequence that follows the fan from the moment she listens to her favorite music at home to deciding to see the band live. Each image is accompanied by a phrase that alludes to the band’s songs and features symbolic objects, like guitars, records, and books, that evoke the spirit of Los Delfines.

The photography evokes the 1960s and 1970s with a slightly desaturated palette while preserving a chromatic intensity that grounds it in the present. The wardrobe, makeup, and setting are retro-inspired, contrasted with contemporary elements that reinforce the visual narrative of the tribute.
